Engagement

We begin every project with a technical audit lasting 1-2 weeks. This involves interviews with your team, reviews of your existing schemas and architecture, and scoping discussions before any code is written. It's the most important part of any engagement.

We price by project scope, not by the hour. After the audit we give you a fixed-scope estimate with a defined deliverable list. No surprise invoices. If scope changes, we discuss it openly before proceeding.

Data engineering projects run 6-16 weeks from audit to production handoff. Cloud infrastructure projects: 4-10 weeks. Web applications: 6-14 weeks. These are honest ranges based on real engagements, not aspirational sales timelines.

Yes, fully remote. We embed synchronously with your team during core hours in your timezone. We use async written updates daily and scheduled working sessions as needed.

The Team

Sebko engineers. Not contractors. Not outsourced developers. The team you evaluate in the first call is the team that builds your system.

Everyone on the engineering side has shipped production data systems. We don't have junior engineers and we don't use junior engineers on client work.

Yes. We expect it. You should know who you're working with before any contract. We make this a standard part of the scoping process.

Typically 1-3, depending on scope and timeline. We run small, focused teams. Larger teams don't produce better results; they produce coordination overhead.

Process

We deliver full documentation, architecture decision records, and runbooks your team can operate independently. Every engagement also includes a 30-day hardening period where we're available for monitoring and questions.

We offer optional retainers for ongoing monitoring and system evolution. Most clients operate independently after handoff; that's the goal. The runbooks exist so you're not dependent on us.

The 30-day hardening period is designed for exactly this. We run load tests, verify alerts, and work through edge cases before the period closes. After that, most systems run autonomously. Ongoing support can be structured separately.

Technical

Apache Kafka, Spark, dbt, Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, Delta Lake, AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, and more. We match your existing stack where possible rather than replacing working systems with our preferences.

Yes. We start by auditing what you have and build from there. We don't insist on rebuilding working systems. If something should change, we'll explain why before touching it.

Primarily yes. We build on the open-source data stack (the Apache ecosystem, dbt, open-format storage) so you're never dependent on proprietary tooling you don't control or understand.

Working Together

Weekly written milestones so you always know where things stand. Async written updates between milestones. Synchronous working sessions for architecture decisions and reviews. You're never left wondering what's happening.

Yes, standard practice. We handle sensitive data for enterprise clients and treat confidentiality seriously. NDAs are part of the standard engagement setup.

Our team operates across multiple timezones. During active project phases we align to your core hours. We've worked successfully with teams in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
